Expansion of the Water Storage Tank

The LCRA is planning to expand the water storage tank that is located at the end of Glenlake Drive. This page is intended to provide information to Glenlake residents about the water system and the expansion project. Below is a brief status and some documents that provide information on the history and design of the water system.

Status as-of 11 May 2007:

The River Place MUD and LCRA are currently reviewing the possibility of solving the capacity and flow problems for the Glenlake and Westminster Glen neighborhoods without expansion of the storage tank located on Glenlake Drive. Watch for updates as the technical studies are completed. We will schedule a Glenlake general meeting with LCRA representatives as soon as there is information to share.

LCRA Plan to Improve Water System

Issue

LCRA announced during the summer of 2003 that they had plans for improving the water system of Glenlake and Westminster Glen. The plan was to increase the available "head" and capacity by installing a new storage tank at one of 4 locations:

  • 90' elevated storage tank on Glenlake Drive existing site
  • 140' elevated storage tank on City Park Road near Westminster Glen entrance
  • Ground storage tank on private land behind High Gate cul-de-sac
  • Ground storage tank + "hydrotank" on Glenlake Drive existing site
LCRA met with the GNA board on various occasions, and held public meetings on 8/13/03 and 8/3/04. Option 4 is currently favored by LCRA as it provides a solution to the water pressure problem while balancing cost and aesthetic issues.
